Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders
From LoveToKnow Cheerleading
Like other NFL cheerleaders, the Atlanta Falcons cheerleaders not only entertain football fans, they are also lawyers, entrepreneurs, full time moms and students. This ambassador arm of the Atlanta Falcons organization represents the team with a variety of talents and abilities. In addition to the cheerleaders who perform at home games, there is also an Atlanta Falcons show troupe that travels to perform at various venues.
Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders Audition
The Atlanta Falcons audition potential cheerleaders every spring in April. The audition is a lengthy three to four day process during which the perspective cheerleaders must learn new dances, participate in a fifteen minute interview and show their stuff in front of both professional and fan judges. Fans are encouraged to audition to become Falcon cheerleader judges as well by submitting a one minute video to YouTube telling why they should be chosen for the position.
Prerequisites
The cheerleaders of the Atlanta Falcons organization do not have a lot of requirements. In general, they must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have earned at least a GED or high school diploma
- Have a full-time or part-time job elsewhere (motherhood counts)
- Be very physically fit
Dance experience is not actually necessary, but you will find that most of the Atlanta cheerleaders have had several years of experience in dance. Most of them have prior cheerleading experience as well.
The Life of a Falcons Cheerleader
Cheerleading is not as glamorous as it might seem, but rather it is a lot of hard work. The cheerleaders are expected to perform at a total of ten home games and attend two rehearsals per week. They are only paid $75.00 per game and nothing for rehearsals. For the amount of time that the lady Falcons put into rehearsing, dancing at games and getting ready with hair and make up, that does not work out to a lot of money. However, most of these ladies do it for the charity and volunteering that they have an opportunity to be involved with as a result of being part of the Falcon's organization.
Charity Work
The Falcons volunteers with numerous organizations including a junior cheerleading squad and local schools. For many cheerleaders, this is a highly motivating aspect of being a cheerleader with the Atlanta Falcons. They also make appearances at various charity events.
Atlanta Falcons Show Troupe
This group consists of twelve to fifteen ladies who are already a regular part of the cheerleading squad. They travel to various places and put on a one hour variety show. In general, they do service trips where they work with a charity or perform a service such as entertaining USA troops.
Appearances
While the majority of these cheerleaders' lives are about rehearsing, performing and representing the Falcons' organization at various events, cheerleaders are offered opportunities to make paid appearances. Between all of these activities plus holding down a job, these cheerleaders are very busy ladies.
