Beautiful Cheerleader

Being a beautiful cheerleader is much more about being beautiful on the inside than it is about being beautiful on the outside. While the athleticism and performance aspects of cheerleading demand a certain physique as well as a certain amount of showmanship, even the most pleasant of appearances can be soured by a bad attitude.

Ten Traits of a Beautiful Cheerleader

Since any inner ugliness is sure to shine through no matter how perfect your hair and make up are, it makes sense to start thinking about what makes a beautiful cheerleader.

A Team Player

A beautiful cheerleader is a team player. She understands that it’s not about whether or not she steels the spotlight, it’s about whether or not the team looks good. To that end, she supports her fellow squad members and does everything within her power to promote the team over herself.

A Good Listener

A beautiful cheerleader is a good listener to her fellow squad members. A cheerleading squad travels together, spends at least a few hours a day in practice together, and works together to perform. Even more importantly, she listens to her coach and follows directions.

Confident

A beautiful cheerleader is confident. She’s confident in her ability because she’s worked hard to get where she is. She’s confident in her squad’s ability because she knows that they are there to catch her.

Generous

A beautiful cheerleader is generous with her time and her talents. Most cheerleaders are involved in community service organizations and donate their time and talents in other areas besides just cheerleading. Some even get involved in cheerleading as a means to do more community service.

Leadership

A cheerleader with inner beauty must be a good leader. She understands that people are depending on her to deliver. Consequently, she leads when called upon to do so. However, she also understands that part of being a good leader is knowing when to follow.

Role Model

A beautiful cheerleader is a role model. She is a visible representative of the organization, and people look up to her. She conducts herself as a role model and accepts the responsibilities graciously.

Perfectionist

A cheerleader who is beautiful also works to achieve perfection in performance. She doesn’t stop when the routine is good enough. She stops when every single eight count is executed as part of a whole team.

Diligent

A Cheerleader that is beautiful works hard and is diligent. She knows that practice makes perfect. She doesn’t mind the work because she has a strong work ethic.

Positive

Cheerleaders who possess inner beauty are positive. They don’t complain, but instead choose to see the best, even in difficult or frustrating situations.

Outward Beauty

While the most important aspect of being “performance” ready comes from the heart, a few beauty tricks here and there never hurt to make a girl really shine.

Whiten Teeth with an Orange Peel

Teeth whitening chemicals can be harmful to your teeth. Instead, use the white part of an orange rind (the pith) and rub it against your teeth. The effect will last the day and it's gentle enough to be repeated daily. The natural chemical in the pith of an orange will whiten your teeth rather effectively.

Make Yourself Really “Shine”

Body glitter is a great way for your team to really add a little sparkle when you’re performing. Adding a little to your face can make things seem to “pop” from the stands.

Moisturize Your Nylons

If you’re required to wear skin colored nylons or tights underneath your uniform, go ahead and rub a little lotion on your legs after you put them on. This greatly decreases the static that wearing nylons can cause and will reduce the chance of you having static hair.

Faux Hair Pieces

If you’re in a competition where you’re required to wear your hair up, skip the curling irons and hours of fidgeting and instead get a faux pony tail. They are more likely to stay “picture perfect”, and you can usually pick out a piece that is already curled for you.

Cheerleaders Should Look Their Best: Inside and Out

Anytime a cheerleader performs, she should look her best inside and out. That means keeping an upbeat and positive attitude as well as making sure your hair and make up are ready!
