Cheerleading Clipart: Megaphones, Pompons and More

There are many places to find cheerleading clip art online. Make sure that before you use anyone's clipart images off of their website, you find out the terms of use. Most pages that offer clipart offer it for free and ask that you simply let them know what you're using it for. Some places will ask for a donation, and other places just ask that you don't sell it. Whatever they ask, remember that it is their work and you should comply with their requests. If you don't like their terms of usage, don't use the images. To put it into a cheerleading perspective: how would you and your squad feel if another squad stole your routines and cheers and the performed them as their own? Here are a few websites that offer cheerleading clipart:

  • Rival Art: These are images that you will need to buy. However. they are very, very well done and go beyond simple figures.
  • Foto Search: This site has an entire page of megaphone clipart to use. However, each picture does cost some money.
  • Cheer Place: This site offers free clipart, but asks that you give credit and a link (or site the website as a source). Cheer Place offers several categories.
  • Cheerleading Graphics: This site offers graphics for cheerleading. This is ideal for a website since some of the graphics are animated. However, there are several "stand alone" images to use as well.
  • Classroom Clipart: Classroom Clipart offers a variety of cheerleading clipart, but also has a few pages dedicated for sports. The clipart is free to use.
  • Dance Net also offers a very selected set of megaphone clipart. Although it is limited, it's free!

How to Add Clipart to Your Presentation

There are more than a couple ways to add clipart to what you're doing. How you add it will really depend on where you're getting your clipart from. The ideal way is to download it on your computer and insert it into your document. Here are a few tips to make your flyer or handout go from ordinary to extraordinary:

  • The eye moves from left to right so in general, if you have a handout with a lot of words you want to add a megaphone or something else in the top left hand corner.
  • This is definitely one case where less is more. Choose one or two good images to use and then save the rest for anther time. Too much clipart in one handout makes the piece looked "cluttered."
  • Consider using a simple cheer border with small megaphones or pom pons to divide forms.
  • Remember too that you can use sports themed clipart as well.

How to Turn Clipart Into a Poster

Have you found a super great megaphone image that you'd like to use in a larger poster but you're not sure how to do it? This is a sure fire way to get that image onto a larger poster to hang up in the hallway.

Take a Small Megaphone Clipart Image and Making It Bigger

Sometimes, to take a small image and copy it or enlarge it, you have to put it on two separate pieces of paper, or when you enlarge it, the image becomes distorted. While this is a little time consuming, high school cheerleaders (or even junior high cheerleaders) are almost always willing to do the work and the product comes out much nicer.

  • Step 1: Copy your megaphone image onto an overhead film. It's best if this is not copied by hand but that you run it through a copier. (Tip: Make sure you have the right kind of overhead film that can go through a copier.)
  • Step 2: Obtain a large piece of poster board or white paper- whatever you want your image to go on. Tape it to the wall at a comfortable height.
  • Step 3: Put the overhead image into an overhead projector and voila! You'll see your image right there on the wall projected onto your paper. You will probably have to adjust the project to get it just right.
  • Step 4: Trace the megaphone in pencil first. When you're finished, you can take it down and add color and other finishing touches!

Ideas for Using Megaphones in Your Clipart

When you're thinking about how to use your clipart, think about why you use a megaphone. You use it to get the crowd's attention. Likewise, megaphone clipart is a great way to make announcements like these:

  • Extra, extra read all about it! The Gators (your team name) are goona win tonight--there's not doubt about it! Follow the headline with the details of the game including time, location and directions.
  • Show your spirit! Give some shouts! Make sure to come for cheerleading try outs! Be sure to provide the details of try outs including what to wear, the location and times.

Cheerleading Clipart Makes It Fun

Remember, any type of cheerleading clipart megaphone, pom pons or even sports things like a basketball or football will always add some visual appeal to what you're presenting. In addition, when it's something to pass out for the whole school, it communicates that the cheerleading squad has put attention and thought into their presentations!
