How the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Calendar is Made

Not surprisingly, the DCC calendar is a huge project and undertaking. It starts with an expedition of DCC staff, photographers and other support staff to find the best site location for the calendar shoot.

Not all of the girls that go to the photo shoot get a month or appear in the calendar. However, before you start feeling too badly, the girls are afforded the exciting opportunity of exploring a beautiful and exotic location during their time off from shooting. Of course, there is the possibility of exposure as a model; this has certainly helped some of the now famous DCC cheerleaders once they leave the organization. Although many of the girls are not models, many go on to be models, actresses or professional dancers. Exposure is one of the many benefits of becoming one of "America's Sweethearts".

At the end of the week, the photographing finishes with a wrap up party, and the photographers and DCC staff begin selecting the photos and putting the calendar together. The calendar has become almost be a mini-franchise of the DCC.

DCC Calendar Traditions

The girls that go on the photo shoot have no idea whether or not they've "won" a coveted spot on the calendar. They also don't know who may have won the coveted cover shot. One of the traditions of the DCC is to have an unveiling party for the girls in the Cowboys' stadium where they get to witness "the big reveal". Making a month or the cover shot is a phenomenal opportunity for exposure, but the girls also consider it a real high point.

Almost as important is the night the girls are on hand to unveil the current years' calendar. The entire team comes out to a party, and lucky guests get their copies of the calendar signed by the DCC girls.
