Pep Rally Skit Ideas
From LoveToKnow Cheerleading
When you're faced with planning an entire school assembly or pep rally, skit ideas can really come in handy. Whether you're looking for funny, or going for serious, skits during a pep rally help get the entire student body behind the team and school.
Pep Rally Skit Ideas
What should happen during pep rally skit? That all depends on your point in presenting the skit. Do you want to have the crowd laughing, encourage audience participation or simply show support for your team. Skits can do all that and more!
Class Cheers Skit
The goal in any successful pep rally is to get as many people as possible involved. The more people who are invested in your pep rally, the more people will support it. Therefore, using a skit to get the classes involved in cheering is a great way to start things off!
Create a scenario that pits classes against each other. The scenario is not really important-it can be as simple as saying, "I wonder which class has more spirit?" Have a cheerleader or small group of cheerleaders represent each class telling why their class has the most spirit. The cheerleaders then should prompt the classes to do their cheers using signs held up by the cheerleaders.
Use your mascot to throw candy into the crowd for the winning class. This is one skit everyone is sure to enjoy.
Faculty Roast
While it's in poor taste to 'roast' someone without their knowledge, chances are that for special events like pep rallies, you'd be likely to get some faculty members who are willing to roast themselves in good fun. If you're stuck for ideas, consider a skit that features the various coaches over exaggerating their sports in the classroom.
The Bad Fan
Many schools, particularly at the beginning of the year, like to give students guidelines for how to behave at games. This actually makes a great skit featuring one cheerleader or student who is the victim of several various 'bad fans.' These can be fans that are obnoxiously rude, fans that bring props that prohibit someone else's view. . .or any other issue that the staff might want to address. By pointing out common faux pas in a fun way, you can promote a positive atmosphere at the games.
The Rival Squad
Before the rival squad gets to your school for the big home game, it's okay to have just a little fun at their expense! You can stage a mock showing of their team getting ready for the big game. Have the football players pretend to be the rivals preparing by doing ballet. . .or anything else silly that you can think of.
Making Sure It All Goes Smoothly
Truthfully, many skits can be improvised to some degree and they will still work well. All participants should have a good idea of what the point of the skit is and an idea of how they are supposed to act. Within reason, a little craziness is allowable during a pep rally. Remember that any skits you include should be to promote school spirit. Don't just include things to kill time.
